Monarchs rally late to edge Ellis

ELLIS - The TMP-Marian Monarchs rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning for an 8-6 win over Ellis Sunday night.

The Monarchs (10-7) were out hit 11-10 and had to overcome four errors as they win their second straight game.

A walk, an error and a single by Mark Rack led to the Monarchs first run in the seventh. Ethan Atherton drew a bases loaded walk which gave TMP the lead. Noah Gibson singled to left scoring Rack then Jace Wentling scored on a passed ball to make the score 8-5.

Ellis turned a single and two errors into a run in the bottom of the inning but Mason Robbins got a strikeout to end the game.

Robbins pitched the final three innings and picked up the win. He allowed two unearned runs on four this with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Tegan Cain homered and doubled and had three of Ellis’ 11 hits. Cain and Carter Bollig both drove in two runs.
