Kansas couple going to prison for death of 1-year-old son

SEDGWICK COUNTY — The parents of a 1-year-old boy are going to prison for his death.

District Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced the boy's father Brijin McCullough, 31, Wichta, was sentenced Friday by Judge Goering to 36-years in prison. On July 9 he pled guilty to 2nd degree murder and other felonies, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Judge Goering also sentenced the boy's mother Wilma Presley of Wichita to 20-years in prison.

On October 31, 2023, emergency crews responded to the Walmart at Pawnee and Broadway where a woman, later identified as Presley, reported her one-year-old son was unresponsive. EMS took the child to a Wichita hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

On July 12, Presley pled guilty to distributing a controlled substance causing death and aggravated endangering a child along with drug crimes..
