CHASE COUNTY –A strong storm with hail and tornadoes did considerable damage across Chase County, Kansas Wednesday night.

The storm damaged homes and businesses, downed power lines, trees and knocked out power to much of the county, according to the Chase County Sheriff's Department.

Strong winds overturned a semi and also lifted a car off the ground and broke all the windows in the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.  There are no reports of serious injury. Power was back on in Cottonwood Falls early Thursday.

The National Weather Service began issuing tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings Wednesday evening in Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa, with forecasters warning people to find shelter.

Authorities said at least two people were killed in the small town of Cole in McClain County, Oklahoma about 25 miles south of Oklahoma City.  Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and an airport received damage before the tornado moved off and weakened.
