Kan. deputies find illegal drugs, firearms during traffic stop

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on drug charges after a traffic stop.

On October 6, a sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SW 10th Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, deputies found illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine, and firearms. They arrested 34-year-old Stefon C. Butler and 48-year-old Beth A. Mikita both of Topeka.

They were arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Butler is being held on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and criminal possession of a firearm. Mikita is being held on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
