
KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.
Just after 10p.m. Tuesday, patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 4000 block of North Bennington, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
First responders were directed to an apartment building where they located a man later identified as 19-year-old Dewayne Toombs suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began performing life saving measures and emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Just after 11:30p.m. Toombs was pronounced deceased at the hospital, according to DiMartino. This is being investigated as a homicide. There is no one in custody at this point. Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
