FINNEY COUNTY—The Garden City Police Department issued an alert Monday to notify the public they are aware of recent social media posts raising concerns and suggesting child abductions or attempted abductions linked to human trafficking in Garden City and southwest Kansas.
"While human trafficking remains a serious concern that warrants vigilance, we have not received any legitimate reports of these incidents occurring locally nor have any arrests been made in connection with these claims."
"Furthermore, these posts appear to be resurfaced or have circulated before. As always, if you have a concern about any suspicious activity occurring in Garden City, please call police at (620) 276-1300 or 911 if it is an emergency."
Please do not report suspected crimes through social media or share posts about crimes that may cause fear and panic without verifying the validity of the post first. Let’s continue to look out for one another, and stay safe and vigilant.
