LYON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 4:30p.m. Monday in Lyon County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Mazda CX3 driven by Josue Javier Chapa, 26, Rio Grande, Texas, was northbound at in the left lane of Interstate 35 in Lyon County due to a right lane closure.
The SUV rear-ended a 2004 Honda CL1800 driven by Richard Schroeder, 60, St. Joseph, Missouri. The impact caused Schroeder to fall off the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Charter Funeral Home. Chapa was not injured. Schroeder was not wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.
