LEAVENWORTH COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident during a police pursuit just after 3a.m. Saturday in Leavenworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Dodge Charger driven by Jossue D Santos-Alejo, 18, Kansas City, Kansas, was being pursued by law enforcement northbound on U.S. 73 just north of Home Place.
The driver lost control while negotiating a curve. The car left the road to the right, overturned. and the driver was ejected through the sunroof.
EMS transported Santos-Alejo to KU Medical Center and a passenger Damian G Rios Chavira, 17, Kansas City, Kansas, to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP. The KHP did not release details on what prompted the chase.
