
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a reported active shooter in a high school in Topeka.
Just after 1:30p.m. Thursday, police received a single call of an active shooter at Hayden High School, 401 SW Gage Blvd. in Topeka, according to a statement from the city spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.
The Topeka Police Department and local law enforcement responded, cleared the school and surrounding area.
No threats to the students, staff, or school were discovered. Police are looking into the false report of an active shooter, and assured the community that everyone is safe.
Sedgwick County dispatch in Wichita reported a similar false call of an active shooter at North High School 1437 N Rochester Street in Wichita.
