Update: Kan. child critically injured after struck by vehicle

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities continue to investigating an injury accident that sent a 2-year-old to the hospital.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police responded to SE 6th and Lake in Topeka and found the child with critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle, according to Lt. John Trimble.

An ambulance transported the child to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police had no update on the condition of the child Tuesday afternoon, according to spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.

Police interviewed the driver and witnesses and continue to ask for anyone with cameras to notify them or contact crime stoppers.
