SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have made an arrest.
Just after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Home Depot at 5900 SW Huntoon in Topeka on a report of a vehicle burglary in progress, according to Lt. Manuel Munoz.
While officers were in route, the caller, who was watching them from the lot stayed on the phone with dispatch and continued to update them as the two suspects got in a vehicle and left the lot.
The caller provided a great description of the vehicle who was observed by officers coming into the area. The vehicle was stopped at a nearby hotel entrance and two individuals were taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, Jordan Shumway, 28 and Earl Kuhn, 59, both of Topeka were booked into Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Burglary to a Vehicle, Theft, Possession of Meth w/Intent to Dist. Possession of Drug Para.
The Topeka Police Department thanked the citizen who called in to dispatch to report the illegal activity. Because of their call, two suspects were taken into custody and the property was returned to the owner.
