LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An Indiana man was found guilty of killing a Nickerson, Kansas, man and injuring his family in Louisville, Kentucky in 2022.

Michael Hurley, 35, was on probation in Indiana for drug-related charges at the time of the crash, according to court documents detailing his criminal history.

He admitted to officers that he was doing drugs before the July 5, 2022 accident that fatally injured Trey Jones and critically injured Amy and Ava Jones. On Monday, Hurley was convicted of one count of murder, three counts of assault and one count of driving under the influence. At sentencing, he could get up to 70 years in prison.

Ava Jones remains on scholarship at the University of Iowa, though she announced earlier this spring that she is no longer going to attempt to return to basketball
