JOHNSON COUNTY —An Overland Park resident contacted Animal Control regarding an owl that was unable to fly, leading them to believe it was injured, according to a social media report from Overland Park Police.
Animal Control Officers, determined the owl was young, still learning to fly and likely fell out of its nest. Officers attempted to encourage it to perch on nearby trees, but it was uncooperative.
The young owl later took shelter in a bush in the community. This appears to be a natural situation with a young bird learning to fly, and no immediate intervention seems necessary at this time. Police thanked the Animal Control staff for their help.
