TOPEKA —The Kansas Division of Emergency Management (KDEM) is working with county emergency managers to collect damage assessments from the period of Dec. 15 to Dec. 23, according to a social media report on Friday from the agency.

KDEM is also collecting damage assessments for utilities, roads, and public-owned buildings.

Individuals should contact their insurance company and their county emergency manager to request assistance from volunteer agencies. They can also call 211 and the United Way will make referrals to organizations who may be able to assist.

Kansas Division of Emergency Management coordinates resources and gathers damage assessments to support a governor’s request for federal assistance. All disasters start and end locally.
