Task force arrests alleged drug dealer near Kan. school

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug charges.

On Thursday, members of the Topeka Police Department Narcotics Unit and the Shawnee County Drug Task Force served a search warrant in the 600 BLK SE Liberty Street in Topeka related to an ongoing investigation, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.

While conducting the search warrant, the officers located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. They also arrested Carlos Retana-Vazquez, 35 years of age, of Topeka and transported him to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges Possession of methamphetamine with the intent of distribution within 1000 feet of a school, Possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent of distribution within 1000 feet of a school and Unlawful to acquire proceeds from drug transactions.
