Update: 19-year-old drowns at Kansas lake

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a drowning at a Kansas lake identified the victim as 19-year-old Daquan I. Hannah, of Florida, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department.

Just after 1p.m. Saturday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received reports of a possible drowning at Lake Shawnee, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

Deputies responded to the scene and learned the 19-year-old entered the water and had not been seen since. The Shawnee Heights Fire District and Mission Township Fire Department began search and rescue measures.

Around 2:30 p.m., first responders located Hannah and removed him from the water. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Christian.
