
KANSAS CITY—One person died in a small plane crash in rural west-central Missouri.
Just after 6p.m. Saturday, sheriffs deputies, state troopers and other first responders were informed of a plane crash in the 10000 block of State Highway B in rural Pettis County, Missouri, according to The Pettis County Sheriff's office.
First responders found an Ultralight aircraft downed near a pond in the front yard of a residence. Bystanders had removed the pilot prior to first responder arrival and started CPR in an attempt to revive the 73-year-old man.
Efforts continued to revive the pilot for a lengthy period of time until all efforts ceased and the pilot was pronounced deceased. The pilot was a Springdale, Arkansa resident, and his spouse was nearby. Contact was made with the spouse and immediate family and proper notifications were made.
Missouri State Highway Patrol took the initial report and contacted the FAA and NTSB per protocol. The sheriff's ofice thanked the bystanders who jumped into action to try and save the life of another.
