SALINE COUNTY —An employee from the City of Salina died Tuesday in an accident.
Just before noon, firefighters were dispatched to Oakdale Park for the report of a water rescue involving the employee, according to a statement from the Salina Fire Department.
A zero-turn lawnmower was being operated and had been found in the river, with a person possibly trapped beneath it. When Salina Fire crews arrived, police had already pulled the victxim from beneath the mower and removed from the river.
SFD personnel immediately began advanced life support measures at the scene. The individual was transported to Salina Regional Health Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
"The City of Salina said in a statement that "it extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of those affected by this incident," said SFD. "We also recognize the seriousness of this event and the impact it has on everyone involved."
