
KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating a weekend homicide in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim as 19-year-old Alexander Richardson, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
Just after 7:30p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 5700 block of Askew in Kansas City, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez. Numerous calls for service continued to come in advising a shooting had occurred.
Officers responded to the scene and located Richardson lying in the street, unresponsive and suffering from believed gunshot trauma near 58th and Askew.
Officers checked for a pulse and attempted to render any possible medical aid. EMS personnel responded shortly after and pronounced Richardson deceased on scene.
Preliminary information indicates there was an interaction between Richardson and multiple unknown male susects. That interaction escalated into gunfire. The suspects left the scene in an unknown direction.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin collecting any evidence and gathering witness statements. Several individuals in the area have assisted responding law-enforcement officers in gathering viable information to help police better understand what happened. Police have not reported an arrest.
