More former Comeau properties up for sheriff's sale

Five more downtown Hays properties owned by Plainville businessman Chuck Comeau will be up for sheriff sale.

Emprise Bank has been granted foreclosures on properties at 1107, 1109, 1111 Main, 106 W. 12th streets as well as 110 W. 11th St. Bank of Hays is listed as a second mortgage holder on the properties.

The storefronts at 1107 Main St., 106 W. 12th St. and 110 W. 11th St. are vacant, while 1109 and 1111 Main St. are occupied by Couture for Men.

The sheriff's sale has been set for 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Ellis County Courthouse.

Tracts 1-3, 1107, 1109, 1111 Main and 106 W. 12th St. will be sold together, with 110 W. 11th St. being sold separately.

Court records indicate $495,311 is owed on tracts 1-3 and $130,244 is owed on tract 4.

Thirteen downtown Hays properties also owned by Comeau and his Liberty Group were sold at sheriff's sale in October. 

Comeau’s furniture manufacturing company in Plainville, Dessin Fournir, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April 2019.
