
KANSAS CITY — Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.
Just after 6p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the 2800 block of E 6th on a reported domestic violence disturbance, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Upon arrival, a group of individuals directed officers to a residence advising a woman was being assaulted. Officers could hear sounds of a disturbance coming from inside of the home followed by multiple sounds of gunshots.
Officers made entry into the home where they located an adult female victim later identified as 45-year-old Antwala Kelly suffering from apparent gunshot trauma.
EMS transported Kelly to an area hospital. After several hours of medical intervention, hospital staff notified detectives she had succumb to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased around 7:50p.m. according to Gonzalez.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a man and Kelly were involved in an argument before it escalated into a physical disturbance. The relationship between the two is not currently known. An adult male subject was located inside of the residence and was taken into custody for further investigation.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide and police are not looking for any additional suspects.
