Police: Kansas woman injured in parking lot shooting

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a Sunday morning shooting in Derby have determined it was an accident.

Just after 6:30 a.m. June 25, police responded to an unknown call for EMS in the 400 block of N. Baltimore in the city of Derby. First responders found a woman on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

EMS transported her to Wesley Hospital for treatment.

Evidence indicates that the shooting was accidental, and the victim was the only person involved, according to police.  She was reported in stable condition on Friday morning, according to police

Derby Detectives would like to speak with any other potential witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Derby Police Department at 316-788-1557 or submit a tip anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities continue their investigation after a woman was found in a parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Just after 6:30a.m. Sunday police responded to a parking lot in the 400 block of North Baltimore Avenue in Derby, according to Deputy Police Chief Brandon Russell. First responders found an unresponsive woman bleeding from a possible gunshot wound.

EMS transported her to a local hospital. Russell reported no new information early Monday.
