
FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stabbing and have a suspect in custody.
Just before 3p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to the northwest part of Garden City for a domestic situation, involving a man who had been stabbed by a woman known to him.
Officers learned that the man had returned to his residence after running errands and engaged in a verbal argument with the woman, identified as 36-year-old Maria Herrera-Chavez of Garden City.
Herrera-Chavez became upset and allegedly stabbed the man with a pocketknife, in the presence of a small child. The man was taken to St. Catherine Hospital, where he was treated and released for his injuries.
Herrera-Chavez was arrested and booked into the Finney County Jail on requested charges of Aggravated Domestic Battery and Aggravated Child Endangerment, according to the release.
