JEFFERSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 9p.m. Friday in Jefferson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Nissan Versa driven by Rebecca Suzanne Krom, 37, Yakima, Washington, was southbound on U.S. 59 approximately 4 miles east of Perry.
The driver failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. 24 Highway. An eastbound 2004 Chevy CK 2500 driven by Ashley Renee Noel, 26, Kansas City, Mo., struck the Nissan. Both vehicles came to rest in a field southeast of the intersection.
Krom was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Barnett Funeral Home.
EMS transported Noel and a passenger in the Chevy Sean Christopher Nowl, 27, Pleasant Valley, Mo., to Stormont Vail in Topeka. The occupants of the Chevy were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
