Kan. sheriff's deputy accused of driving under the influence

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas Sheriff's Deputy for alleged driving under the influence.

On July 1, the Kingman County Sheriff's office arrested  Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Corporal Avery Toombs in Kingman County for misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence, according to Sheriff's Department Spokesman Benjamin Blick.

Toombs, 25, has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for six years.

In addition to the criminal case, the Professional Standards Unit of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting an investigation.
