Former Hesston College student to perform at Biden virtual inaugural

WASHINGTON —A Kansas City native who earned an Associate of Arts Degree in business and marketing from Hesston College, AY Aaron Young is one of a handful of musicians including Akon, Billie Eilish, Bob Weir, Michael Franti, Train and Denise King performing at the Clean Energy for America Inaugural Ball Wednesday evening.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, AY is a producer, writer, rapper, and singer/songwriter and sustainability advocate.  AY got his musical start in 2012 on the X Factor TV show, receiving four Yes’ from celebrity judges L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, Louis Walsh, and Demi Lovato, according to the singer's bio.

He recently received a Special Action Resolution from Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, Congress, and the State of Missouri, honoring his recognition by the United Nations as "1 of 17" Youth World Leaders. Young powers up his concerts using renewable energy. He was selected from 18,000 nominations from 193 countries, and is the only Youth Leader from the the U.S. Young was also named "40 Under 40" by a national energy magazine. He is the son of Alan Young and State Representative Yolanda Young.
