SHAWNEE COUNTY—Investigators found the body of a fatal Kansas  motorcycle crash.

Just after 8a.m. Monday,  the Topeka Police Department requested assistance from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office in searching for a missing Topeka man.

Just before 10a.m., deputies with the Sheriff’s Office located the body of 80-year-old Lowell W. Lence of Topeka in the 4400 block of SW Auburn Road, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

An investigation determined a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Lence southbound on SW Auburn Road when it left the roadway. Both the motorcycle and driver were located several yards off the roadway near the bottom of a ravine, in a heavily wooded area. The final resting place of Lence and motorcycle were not visible from the roadway. Lence was pronounced deceased at the scene.

SW Auburn Road was shut down between approximately 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. while investigators were on scene investigating.

This incident is still under investigation.
