KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating the first homicide of 2025 in Kansas City.
Just before 3a.m. patrol officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Elmwood in Kansas City on a reported shooting, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
When they arrived to the area they were directed to a residence on Elmwood. Officers located a man later identified as 41-year-old Calvin L. Bushnell suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced the him deceased.
An additional adult male shooting victim was also located. He was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.This is being investigated as a homicide.
The preliminary investigation revealed there were several people gathered at a residence prior to shots being fired. Investigators are trying to determine what led up to the victims being struck.
