Kan. homeowner alerts police to home invasion burglary

TOPEKA —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary at a Kansas home.

On Monday, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of NE Michigan in Topeka on the citizen report of someone breaking into their house and gained entry into the basement, according to Lt. Shane Hilton.

As officers arrived, they saw a man running from the residence. After a short pursuit, the suspected later identified as Robert Nesbitt, Jr., 34, Topeka was taken into custody without incident.

Nesbitt remains jailed on requested charges of Aggravated burglary, Theft < $1500 All Other, Criminal Damage and Possession of Meth, according to Hilton.
