Sheriff: Stolen license plate led to Kansas drug bust

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating two suspects on drug allegations after a traffic stop.

Just after 11a.m. April 14, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a red 1992 Nissan Sentra with a stolen license plate near SE 6th Avenue and SE Jefferson Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

A patrol deputy located the vehicle in the 600 block of SE Sherman Avenue. Three individuals were taken into custody. During the investigation, illegal narcotics were located.

Matthew B. Banks, 36, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department on requested charges of  Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Possession of hallucinogenic drug, Use/possess with intent to use drug

paraphernalia into human body, Possession of stolen property, Driving while license suspended, Vehicle liability insurance and Possession of marijuana.

Kaylee D. Simmons, 33, of Topeka, was arrested and booked on requested charges of  Interference with law enforcement, Possession of marijuana,  Use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body and  Possession of a hallucinogenic drug

Jeremiah J. Hennessee, 34, of Topeka, had three misdemeanor warrants for his arrest through the City of Topeka and was transported to municipal court.
