Kan. man found after SUV crash was victim of drive-by shooting

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal drive-by shooting have identified the victim as 22-year-old Clemente Camarillo of Wichita.

Just before 2a.m. Friday, police responded to a shooting call at 13th and Oliver in Wichita, according Police Captain Jason Stevens.

At the scene, they located an SUV that appeared to have driven through a fence and came to rest in the backyard of a residence in the 1400 block of N. Harding.

Inside the vehicle, they located Camarillo with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene, according to Stevens.

Investigators learned that Camarillo and a 25-year-old male passenger were eastbound on 13th street at Oliver when another unknown, eastbound vehicle approached theirs  and an occupant began firing shots.

The gunfire struck Camarillo which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The SUV traveled off the road came to rest in the back yard of the home on North Harding.

Police believe this his is a targeted incident, and investigators are working to locate the suspect.
