Deputies found runaway teens, fentanyl pills at Kansas motel

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating three teens on drug allegations.

On October 18, 2024 the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit and Detectives Unit followed up on a tip involving runaway juvenile girls, suspected of using fentanyl and running with adults involved with the distribution and usage of fentanyl, according to a social media report from the sheriff's office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 10th Street in Topeka.  Deputies located a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl inside the vehicle with a large amount of fentanyl pills.

The juvenile female was identified as Bria R. Ingram, 16, a reported runaway out of Shawnee County. Ingram was taken into custody. Follow up investigation was conducted at a motel in the 3800 block of SW Topeka Boulevard. Additional fentanyl pills were located, as well as another reported runaway, Rhiannon R. Jones, 17.

Justin A. Ray, 19, was also taken into custody. After medical clearance at a local hospital, Ingram and Jones were booked into the Shawnee County Juvenile Department of Corrections on requested charges of Possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant; Use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body.

Ray was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of Possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body and Contributing to a child’s misconduct.
