Police arrest suspect for stabbing at Kansas fireworks stand

TOPEKA –Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stabbing at a fireworks stand and have made an arrest.

Just after 9p.m. Thursday, police  were called to a fireworks stand located near 21st and Fairlawn Road for a stabbing, according to police Lt. Matt Danielson.

Officers located the victim, who was an employee of the fireworks stand, and multiple witnesses who stated that a man had come up behind the victim and stabbed him.

The suspect then left the area on foot. Witnesses relayed his whereabouts to law enforcement, and he was soon taken into custody a few blocks away.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Austin Langley, 40, of Topeka, and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a requested charge of Attempted Murder, according to Danielson.
