Homicide: Kan. couple preparing for bed shot in their home

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a deadly shooting in Wichita and asking for help with information.

Just after 11p.m. Wednesday, police  responded to a reported shooting in the 2300 block of Mascot in Wichita, according to police spokesman Andrew Ford.

First found two victims a 49-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman identified as Deanna Garcia.

The male victim reported hearing several gunshots outside their residence as they prepared for bed. The male victim sustained a gunshot wound to his lower left leg and was transported to a local hospital by Sedgwick County EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

He has since been released. Garcia sustained critical injuries from a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 11:54 p.m. by medical staff, according to Ford. Police have not reported an arrest or possible suspect information.
