Police investigate theft from mail carrier in SW Kansas

FINNEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating alleged mail theft in Garden City.

Just after 10:30 a.m. Jan. 14,., police Department were dispatched to 1200 East Laurel Street in Garden City in reference to an auto burglary, according to Sgt. Lana Urteaga.

When officers arrived, they met with a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Officers learned that the mail carrier had parked his postal truck in the 1200 block of East Laurel Street, locked the doors, and began his delivery route.

Upon return, the mail carrier discovered all remaining mail in the truck had been taken without permission.

Police remind the public that those expecting mail on or around January 14, 2021, please contact the sender to ensure it was sent.

If the mail was sent, and you did not receive it, please, notify the United States Postal Service. Please, be aware of potentially fraudulent activity when receiving or cashing checks. As always, contact the Garden City Police Department if you suspect a crime has been committed.
