Patrol: Kan. teen drove through activated railroad crossing arm

CRAWFORD COUNTY —A Kansas teen avoided injury in an accident that occurred just after 6p.m. Tuesday in Crawford County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Ford Escape driven by 17-year-old Onna Jorge-Thelisma of Pittsburg, Kansas was westbound on E 515th Avenue just east of S 240th Street. The driver attempted to drive through an activated railroad crossing arm.  A southbound train struck the SUV. 

 Jorge-Thelisma, who was properly restrained, was not injured, according to the KHP.
