KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement had to battle a fire during an arrest last week.
Just before noon September 9, Sheriff's Deputies with the Criminal Apprehension Unit attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the area of Interstate 49 and 2 Hwy in Harrisonville, according to a statement from the Cass County Sheriff.
The driver failed to yield and a pursuit continued northbound.
After several minutes, Deputies successfully deployed the Grappler near I-49 and J Hwy in Peculiar. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Shortly after the pursuit ended, the suspect’s vehicle caught fire.
Firefighters with the West Peculiar Fire Protection District assisted by putting the fire out. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
The suspect is being held the Cass County Jail. The sheriff's office did not release the possible charges.
