Sheriff: Kan. man out of prison 5 months attempted to sell meth

OSAGE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a man released from the Kansas Department of Corrections in late February on drug allegations.

Just before 10:30p.m. Aug. 12, a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop at 173rd and U.S. 75 Highway for a traffic violation, according to Sheriff Chris Wells.

During the stop, illegal narcotics were located. The driver of the vehicle, Kenneth M. Buckingham, 62, of Topeka, was taken into custody and transported to the Osage County Jail on requested charges of Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Traffic contraband into a correctional facility, Driving while license is suspended or revoked and No proof of liability insurance

Buckingham has previous convictions for burglary and theft, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
