Kan. U.S. Senator honors Charlie Kirk on his birthday

WASHINGTON—On Tuesday afternoon, President Trump will posthumously award the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

On social media, Kansas U.S. Senator Roger Marshall wrote, "we honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk on his heavenly birthday. With unanimous support, the U.S. Senate has declared October 14 the National Day of Remembrance — a tribute to his bold faith and love for our country. His impact continues to shape the next generation of leaders."

The Presidential Medial of Freedom presentation is scheduled for 3p.m., according to the White House.

In September, Turning Point USA’s founder, Charlie Kirk was assassinated while holding an event at Utah Valley University’s campus.

The U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate passed resolutions to honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk.

The resolution supports the designation of a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk” on Oct. 14 and recognizes Charlie Kirk for his contributions to civic education and public service.
