KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City have identified the victim as 57-year-old Cleveland Wright, according to KCPD Sgt. Phil DiMartino.
Just before 8:30p.m. Sept. 24, police were dispatched to the intersection of Gardiner and N. Chouteau Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri on a reported shooting, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
When officers arrived to the scene, they located a vehicle that had been stopped near the intersection with an unresponsive driver inside. Upon further evaluation, officers determined the individual, later identified as Wright, was suffering from apparent, gunshot trauma, and immediately began rendering medical aid until EMS personnel responded.
Wright was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates Wright was inside of the vehicle when he was struck by gunfire. It is undetermined at this time if the suspect was an individual inside of another vehicle, or traveling on foot.
Police do not currently have a person of interest identified and there is not anyone in police custody.
