Friends helping family of 7-year-old who died in Kansas City crash

KANSAS CITY —A 7-year-old girl injured in a crash on February 5 died of her injuries. Friends of the family are working to assist the family.

Just before 5p.m. February 5, a Chevrolet Suburban was eastbound on 23rd Street Trafficway at Stark Avenue, according to KC Police Captain Jake Becchina.

The SUV traveled  off the road to the right onto the soft dirt shoulder. The driver overcorrected, causing the SUV to go into a broad slide. It slid across the center median where it was struck on the passenger side by a westbound Ford F150.

EMS transported both drivers and a juvenile passenger of the Suburban  to local hospitals. The girl was transported in critical condition and she died Thursday, according to Becchina.  Police have not released names of the those involved as the investigation continues.
