ALLEN COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 8p.m. Wednesday in Allen County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported 2004 Ford F250 Super Duty driven by Scott R. Welch, 44, Moran, was eastbound on U.S. 54 hauling a large bale of hay, obstructing the visibility of the tail-lights.
A 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by Raymond L Streeter, 84, Fort Scott, rear ended the Ford. After impact, the Ford rotated counter-clockwise, overturned and Welch was ejected into the westbound lanes of U.S. 54.
A westbound 2018 Chevy Equinox driven by James J. Bridger, 22, Gainsville, Texas, struck Welch. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Countryside Funeral Home. There were no other injuries.
