Hays USD 489 principals Straub, Gile to retire at end of June

Hays High School Principal Martin Straub and O'Loughlin Elementary Principal Viki Gile have announced their retirements at the end of June.

Straub has his wife, Mary, are both retiring from USD 489. Straub has been the principal at HHS for eight years and was an assistant principal at HHS for 19 years.

Mary Straub is a reading teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School.

Martin Straub said via email Tuesday he and his wife both plan to find jobs after their careers in education.

Gile has been with the district for five years.
