
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with a car jacking.
Just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, police observed a vehicle, near the area of 14th and SW Topeka Blvd. which had been reportedly stolen and involved in an armed carjacking in Lawrence, according to Lt. Edward Stanley.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver failed to stop, initiating a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle was eventually stopped near westbound Interstate 470 and Fairlawn Road where the driver later identified as Tashaun L. Jacks-Story, 18, of Topeka was taken into custody without further incident.
Jacks-Story is being held in the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges that include Possession of Stolen property, Flee or Attempt to Elude, Reckless Driving, Driver’s license required and Criminal Damage to Property.
