SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect for a burglary at a rural Kansas home.
Just before 1:30a.m. Sunday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an attempted residential burglary in the 2900 Block of SW Tutbury Town Road in rural Shawnee County, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
A suspect knocked on the front door of the home, according to investigators. When the resident answered the door, the suspect later identified as 43-year-old Bryan C. Andton of Topeka, attempted to force entry into the home.
The resident was able to prevent Anton from entering and forced him back outside. Anton then continued to kick the door and attempted to gain entry until sheriff's deputies and a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper arrived and found Anton outside.
Anton was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and interference with law enforcement.
