ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a violent crime and have made an arrest.
In the early morning hours of January 16, police responded to a residence in the 1900 block Harper Drive in Atchison where an 18 year old female reported being the victim of a sexual battery and a 38 year old male reported being threatened with a firearm, according to police Chief Mike Wilson.
On Sunday, police arrested 27-year-old Joseph A. Evans of Atchison on a District Court warrant for aggravated assault and sexual battery.
Police arrested him on requested charges of domestic battery and bodily. harm in November of 2019, according to online jail records.
