Kan. driver accused of intentionally striking pedestrian with car

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a pedestrian accident and have made an arrest.

Just before midnight April 5, a police noticed a vehicle with its hazard lights on  near SE 10th and Branner Trafficway in Topeka, according to a media release. 

Just before making contact with the vehicle, the officer witnessed the car strike a pedestrian.

EMS transported the individual struck by the car to a local hospital with minor injuries. Officers then took the driver of the vehicle into custody. According to online records, she was identified as Arlene Cardenas, 21, of Topeka.

She booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges Aggravated battery, Aggravated assault; Use of a deadly weapon, Criminal damage to property; Felony and reckless driving, according to online jail records.
