KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before midnight Friday in Kansas City.
According to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina, a silver Honda Accord was northbound in the southbound lanes of Blue Ridge Cutoff at a high rate of speed. A Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy was operating a black Ford Explorer patrol vehicle, traveling non-emergent, southbound on Blue Ridge Cutoff.
The Honda struck the patrol vehicle head-on. The deputy was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deputy is currently in stable condition. Police released no additional details.
This is fatality #8 compared to #20 at this time last year.
