BROWN COUNTY —Law enforcement continue searching for a suspect after a chase with a disabled pickup.

On September 5, sheriff's deputies observed a red Ford pickup driving without a tire on the rear of the vehicle near Morrill, according to Brown County Sheriff John Merchant.

When an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop on the  vehicle, the driver  refused to stop and a chase ensued with speeds at times  of over 75 miles per hour.

The chase ended when the pickup traveled down  a dead end road in the vicinity of 340th and Acorn, continued approximately 150-200 feet in to a corn field and caught fire. 

The driver  fled on foot.  Brown County deputies as well as Nemaha County, Richardson County, Sabetha and Sac and Fox Police, Brown County Emergency Manager assisted in trying to locate the male driver. The Morrill Fire Department also responded to the scene.

On Tuesday, the search for the suspect continued.  Sheriff John Merchant is asking the public for assistance in locating Dustin Barrett, 36 of  Oneida..  Please contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office if you have information on the whereabouts of Barrett.  785-742-7125
