KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating a double homicide in Kansas City have identified the victims as 19-year-old Deontae Marchbanks and 17-year-old Cierra Pennington.
Just before 3:30p.m. Monday patrol officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Blue Hills Road on a reported sound of shots, according to KCPD Officer Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
As officers arrived they were directed to a vehicle in a parking lot. There they located a Marchbanks and Pennington suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced Marchbanks deceased on scene. EMS transported Pennington to a local hospital where she died a short time later.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives continue working to determine the events that led up to the shooting.
